Cover: View of the polarity surface representation of the transglutaminase-1 protein around residue Tyr276. The hydrophobic residues are coloured yellow, positively charged residues blue, and negatively charged residues red. All other polar residues are coloured in violet. The structural modelling for Tyr276Asn reveals that the residue is buried in the hydrophobic interior of the enzyme. The missense mutation is associated with Bathing suit ichthyosis a striking clinical form of autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis characterized by pronounced scaling on the bathing suit areas but sparing of the extremities.
