About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover: At the onset of cerebral cortical neurogenesis, the first postmitotic cells migrate in a radial fashion out of the germinal ventricular zone neuroprogenitors and form the first recognizable cortical layer, known as the primordial plexiform layer or the preplate. This structure consists of a distinctive population of pioneer neurons that can be recognized immunohistologically by chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan (CSPG, in red) and the young neuron marker DCX (in green).
