About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover: The cover figure shows cultures of human neural crest cells (nuclei, blue) co-expressing neural cell adhesion molecule (green) and alpha-smooth muscle actin (red). This cell population, which can be isolated from the three- to four-week embryo, gives rise to a wide but limited complement of cell types and tissues in vivo, yet has a transcriptional signature highly evocative of embryonic stem cells.
